Project Description

The Hazel Avenue Improvement Project – Phase 3 (Project) will construct improvements on Hazel Avenue between Sunset Avenue and Madison Avenue consisting of bike lanes, separated sidewalks, sound walls, landscaped median and LED street lighting.  The Project will also replace overhead utilities with underground facilities (except for 69kV electric lines), install new traffic signal facilities at the intersections of Hazel Avenue with Roediger Lane and at Hazel Avenue with Phoenix Avenue.

Planned roadway improvements include:

• Widening Hazel Avenue from four to six lanes from Sunset Avenue to Madison Avenue.
• New traffic signals at Phoenix Avenue and the fire station at Roediger Lane and traffic signal modifications at Madison Avenue.
• Installation of a weigh-in motion device for truck traffic enforcement.

Schedule

• Preliminary Engineering: 2014 to 2016.
• Design: 2014 to 2020.
• Environmental Review: Completed.
• Right-of-Way Acquisition: 2016 to 2019. 
• Construction: October 2020 - November 2022

Construction Budget

• The estimated construction cost of the project is $15,732,888.00.
