SacDOT has adopted the following County policy pertaining to the timing of traffic signal installations proposed by new development. Generally, traffic signals must be installed and operational prior to a project receiving a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO), unless an exception applies. If an exception is granted, certain restrictions apply to temporary access patterns and traffic control, and further approvals will require installation of the traffic signal.
