The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SACDOT) is responsible for improving, operating and maintaining a safe and efficient transportation system that serves our citizens and commerce. This includes being a leader in efforts to provide a transportation system that is more efficient and safer for people who are disabled, riding a bike or walking.
On a continuous basis we have projects underway to improve the County transportation system as funding allows. These projects range from interchange construction and modification to major roadway improvements to neighborhood traffic management programs. Because the existing transportation system was laid out in Sacramento County over many decades, and population and vehicle miles traveled have increased so significantly, our biggest challenge is to optimize our current roadway system.
The links below lead to summaries of transportation improvement projects that are underway or in the planning stages. Americans with Disability Act (ADA) compliance, pedestrian and bicycling facilities are included in many of the projects. Links are also provided to the County's Transportation Improvement and Program Guide (TIPG) and Project Master List (PML). These documents provide an overview of all active transportation projects and programs, the up-to-date status of current projects, and information about the County's transportation funding sources and project selection processes.
