We are looking for an Assistant Civil Engineer I/II for our Design team.  The Assistant Civil Engineer (Level I) is the trainee level class in the professional civil engineering series.  The Assistant Civil Engineer (Level II) is the journey level class in the professional civil engineering series.

Level I incumbents perform field and office assignments of a less complex nature in connection with the design and construction of a wide variety of civil engineering projects such as: sidewalk infill, roadway widening, complete streets projects, traffic signal and street lighting, and bridge replacements.  Level II incumbents, under general supervision, are responsible for routine office or field projects of average difficulty and are expected to direct them to completion.​

The duties, knowledge and abilities of the Level I and the Level II are the same except the work is originally done under close supervision; as experience is gained, greater independence of action is increased and less detailed supervision is received until the incumbent is functioning at the first working level.​

The ideal candidate will have experience working with Autodesk Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel and Word, current Engineer-In-Training Certificate, and be comfortable in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment. The Assistant Civil Engineer should demonstrate effective time management & communication skills, is motivated and driven, and also be able to maintain effective working relationships with superiors, consultants, external agencies, and other County entities. ​
