Elder Creek Road Closure September 19 to September 22

The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SacDOT) will close all lanes on a stretch of Elder Creek Road starting 7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 19.  The full road closure will run from Florin Perkins Road and South Watt Avenue.  The road is expected to reopen the following Monday at 6:00 a.m., September 22.  The closure will allow the California Central Traction Company to perform necessary work on the Elder Creek Road railroad crossing.

The full closure is part of the larger South Watt Avenue Improvement Project. Along with an improved railroad crossing, the entire project will also add two additional traffic lanes, sidewalks and bike lanes, and replace the Morrison Creek Bridge. The South Watt Avenue Improvement project is a critical step to improve the South Watt Avenue corridor between Florin Road and Jackson Road.

Detour Route

During the full closure, SacDOT will set up detours around the repair work.  Both westbound and eastbound traffic on Elder Creek Road will be directed to Fruitridge Road.

Access will be provided to those businesses located on Elder Creek Road between Florin Perkins Road and South Watt Avenue during the closure; the roadway will be closed to all other traffic.
